When Laziness Is Your Block

Of all the reasons people don’t start doing the things in their life that they’d like to be doing, laziness is one of the most common blocks

In fact it’s much more common than most people would like to admit

It can be dressed up as procrastination, a fear of change, lack of knowledge but being too lazy to actually do anything about it is often the actual reason

It’s easier to just keep talking about doing something, to put it off until later. watch reality TV or spend some time on Facebook rather than taking some action to change your life

You can normally tell when laziness is playing a part; people start uses phrases like ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’ or the classic ‘I can’t be arsed’

Being lazy then becomes a way of operating that traps people in a life they don’t really want to be living. Once you give in, trying to make the effort just begins to seem like a waste of time so why bother?

I know how this pans out as for years I was in this exact position; being too lazy to do anything became a way of life for me until I woke up one day and realised that it was one of the major factors in feeling so miserable all of the time!

The major effect that having laziness as a block was always having feelings of regret; always wishing I’d done something better rather than just winging it, regretting that rather than putting the time and effort in I’d yet again just done the bare minimum to get by

What turned things around for me was to actually do what I said I was going to do when I said I was going to do it

No putting things off or doing them at the last-minute

Actually getting off of my arse and doing it!

I started to take the actions I needed to be taking to change my circumstances; started putting the work in, making the effort

Rather than just ‘getting by’ and staying in a life I didn’t want I started thriving and living a life I loved

I’m still very much a work in progress; the ‘lazy block’ is still there rearing its head everyday about how it would be easier to just ‘do it tomorrow’ instead

The difference is now I know that by simply doing something everyday it goes away

Just getting up and doing my ten minutes of mindfulness everyday, writing everyday, etc even when it would be easier not to helps to stop the lazy block from holding me back

Is it easy to do?

Not always but by doing it anyway I keep moving in the direction I want to be going in

If laziness is a block for you and you don’t want to end up living a life regretting what you should have done make the change right now

Stop what you’re doing and go do that one thing that you’ve been putting off that would make a real difference to your life

Once you start you might also notice that the energy you get from taking action keeps you going and you’ll become more productive and creative than ever

So, what have you been putting off that you’re now going to do?
